WHERE’S TEH DUCKS!!!
A video-post this one. In prepration for finishing off Gloranthan Adventures 2 Red Sun Rising, I thought it be fun to dig out the small pile of books I have on the Lunar Empire/Dara Happan empire. So up into the attic I went and these short videos run through what I found.
Part 1 (5.56 mins) Covers: Introduction to Glorantha (HeroWars), The Glorious Reacent of Yelm The Fortunate Succession, The Entekosiad, Champions of the Red Moon.
Part 2 (7.16 mins) Covers: Shreads of Light and Reason, Dara Happa Stirs, Sun County, The Unspoken Word’s Map of the Lunar Empire.
Note to Gloranthan Pedants: Yup I may get some of the details, such as creditation, wrong but hey I was runnning from memory. I will post any corrections at the bottom of this post. Also yes I’m missing a few titles, they’re in storage at my mother’s at present
Note to Gloranthan New commers : Don’t worry you don’t need all these books to run/understand Red Sun Rising. I’m rereading them to make sure RSR is not too jarring with ‘accepted’ cannon and so I can slot in the fun bits
Going to be busy over the next month or two getting the next issue of Hearts in Glorantha and Gloranthan adventures #2 together.
HiG issue 5 is well into production. I’ve already had some of the Art submitted, which I’ll preview soon, the cover is being worked on, the proofing is underway. Looking at a late November/early Dec release on this one.
Gloranthan Adventures #2 Red Sun Rising will be next up. I’m currently going through my draft and filling in the gaps and holes. To this end I got out a whole pile of books which cover or touch on the Lunar Empire.
And talking of reviews, its something I’ve been lax about of late so expect some of both official and fan publications in the coming weeks.
So the news has slipped out on the World of Glorantha Yahoo list that the Pavis book will be with us come Dragonmeet this November. The second book, about the Big Rubble will follow shortly after.
On this day of looking after sick kids and doing never ending rounds of dishwashing (oh how I miss our dishwasher!), I find my mind drawn to simpler times in my early ventures into Glorantha via Pavis & The Rubble back in ’88.
My character, a low skill ranked hoodlum laden with debt to the fighter’s guild whose name I forget, ran the streets in Pavis. Without realising he ended up in an Orlanthi revolt, running for his life after dark evading Seven Mothers initiates. He escaped the city, only to find himself in entering the Rubble via the People’s gate in search of the fabled Balastor’s Barracks with only the clothes on his back and the sword in his hand. He never got there, spotting a couple of Broo on the horizon he made the ill advised move of preparing his Bladesharp spell. While this magic gave him the edge in a bloody and savage fight, he was slain when he went to loot the bodies and was attacked by a disease spirit that one of the Broo’s was carrying.
Happy days

…and its coming home
Lawrence Whitaker and Pete Nash, authors of MRQ2, are going to be writing it (as the Design Mechanism) and Moon Design is going to be publishing it.
Glorantha for RQ6 is on the cards, but not until the core game and some generic supplements are put out, so we are looking at 2013 or so the bits that are coming out of the horse’s mouth on their forums.
Pop over to the The Design Mechanism’s site for more details.
As usual its a bit quiet around here. Fear not that’s all about to change, for the brain has been working overtime and Glorantha has been its focus over the last couple of days.
Quick highlights
The Book of Glorious Joy hardcover print proof arrived from DriveThruRpg.com over the weekend, and appart from a few tweaks to the cover (which unfortunately mean another proof and another week wait) it is indeed a glorious joy to behold. Well worth all the layout work I’ve put into it
Inspired by the arrival of above I’m now working on Gloranthan Adventures 2 Red Sun Rising, a collection of Lunar Aventures, with Peter Town and Xavier Llobet handling art duties, Jon Hodgson on cover and Ben Monroe kicking my ass towards quality on proofing/editing.
In parallel I’m working on Hearts in Glorantha issue 5. Currently its on my editorial desk and much fun is being had reading the quality material for this bumper issue
My feavoured brain has been working on a way of giving Gloranthan fandom a kickstart, more on this later.
Plus various musings on RuneQuest & what I’ve been upto on the Moon Design website redesign.
They may have lost the RQ license, but Mongoose is giving away a free and updated version of the mini-campaign that originally came out for MRQ1
Again, with special thanks to Bruce Mason, Mongoose Publishing have just posted the entire Blood of Orlanth epic, fully updated for the RuneQuest II rules, for free download on their site. You can grab a copy now at:mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=1777
It starts as a journey down the Solthi river in search of a thief. Orlanthi barbarians, imperialistic Wyrmfriends, and even the mysterious and power-hungry sorcerers of the God Learner empire clash in their search for a mystic artifact, and the Player Characters are thrust into the middle of a sudden and ferocius war.
The Legend of Orlanth the Martyr, almost completely forgotten, offers a pivotal stepping stone between the myths of men and the myths of dragons. To the Orlanthi it is holy. To the empire of Wyrm’s Friends it is blasphemous. To the God Learners it is power. Each faction struggles for the ultimate prize: the Blood of Orlanth.
Suitable for Player Characters of any faction, Blood of Orlanth immerses players in the unique world of Glorantha. This adventure shows off everything that makes Glorantha great, culminating in a full HeroQuest.
A man fights for his home. A dragon fights with fire. A sorcerer does not fight, but poisons with lies and spells. How will you fight for the Blood of Orlanth?
Quick one for all you folk who follow this blog, is that The Book of Glorious Joy is now done and dusted and being checked at DriveThruRPG.com’s print programme. Which means DTRPG’s POD folk are checking the electronic files, before sending me a proof print of both the Softcover and HARDCOVER version. That’s right folks you’ll be able to get a lovely hardcover version of BoGJ in about three weeks time
One thing, there will be no pre-order. This is a shame since I had planned various bits of fun for this , but I’ve run out of time. When the books are ready now coincides with me and family moving out of our house for at least three months while an extension is built. I would not have been popular with Mrs Newt if serveral boxes of books arrived just as I needed to be boxing up family stuff (not to mention my sacred Gloranthan collection
).
